Jamie Luner And Her Glamorous Life
Do you remember when the first episode of “Just the Ten of Us” aired on ABC? It was April 26, 1988, when this “Growing Pains” spin-off started airing, and just like that, it took the American household by storm. And one of the reasons for the storm was Cindy Lubbock, played by Jamie Luner.
It’s been thirty-two years since then, and the American people can still recall their beloved show and beautiful Cindy in it. Just the Ten of Us was a comical success that caught the fancy of people at that time. All it took were two seasons, and along with “Growing Pains,” the show become one of America’s most loved television shows. From the story to the comedy, and from the characters to the cast: everybody loved everything about the show.
Jamie Luner kicked off her career with Just the Ten of Us to create a special place for herself with the diverse roles she played on screen.
A teenage dream
Jamie wasn’t new to the camera when she first appeared on Just the Ten of Us. Jamie had been appearing in front of the camera since she was a baby. Yes, that’s true! Credit goes to Susan Luner, her mother, who hired a local professional talent agency for her baby girl. The talent agency was quick to respond, and Jamie was only four when she starred in a tissue commercial alongside Suzanne Somers.
It wasn’t until Jamie was fifteen that she would realize that she was meant to be a star. Jamie took part in a local Shakespeare competition and won. When the host asked her about the competition during an interview, Jamie said, “Performing gave me such a high. My body was tingling.”
It was around the same time when Growing Pains had been airing on ABC. Jamie managed to bag a small role on the show and made continuous appearances until her mom flew her to New York. Once in New York, Jamie attended the Professional Children’s School.
A star is born
During the three-season run of Just the Ten of Us, Jamie won a nomination in “Best Young Actor/Actress Ensemble in a Television Comedy, Drama Series or Special” category. The show, however, came to an abrupt end in 1991, and Jamie decided to catch a breath from acting. So, she attended a culinary school and was even a chef at Drai’s French restaurant in Los Angeles. In all these years, Jamie Luner has created a special place for herself in our hearts, and with each role she plays, Jamie just keeps getting better!
